Our editorial policy

Independence
Southern Alpha is independently owned. We don't accept payment in exchange for favourable coverage, we don't run sponsored content disguised as editorial, and we don't take equity in companies we cover. If we ever publish a paid placement, it will be labelled Sponsored at the top of the article and excluded from "best of" comparisons.
Sourcing
Every figure we publish is traced to a primary source: ATO rulings, APRA fund data, RBA statements, ABS releases, ASX disclosures, or the product issuer's PDS. Secondary sources (news outlets, broker reports) are used for context only and named in the article.
Calculator methodology
Our calculators use the current financial year's tax brackets, HELP/HECS thresholds, Medicare levy and super guarantee rates published by the ATO. Where assumptions are required (long-run returns, inflation, fees), we state them on the page. Calculators are reviewed each July and after any in-year rate change.
Review & updates
Evergreen articles carry a "Last reviewed" date and are re-checked at least every 12 months. Rate-sensitive content (tax, super, mortgages, RBA cash rate) is reviewed within seven days of any official change.
Corrections
If we get something wrong, we fix it openly. Substantive corrections are noted at the bottom of the article with the date and what changed. Spot a mistake? Tell us.
